The first part deals with the requirements and the deficiencies of the present approach in education in manufacturing. In the second part, the project approach is discussed in order to accomplish the objectives: to trigger original, creative thinking in search for innovative solutions related to processes, machinery integrated systems and management, to obtain the ability to see the manufacturing as a whole; to work in a team; to apply advanced analytical and CA-methods in design, planning, fabricating, quality control etc.; to implement the concurrent engineering and to honor the time.
