This alloy is often chosen to handle sulfuric acid under reducing conditions. It possesses useful resistance to hydrochloric acid up to about 10% in water at room temperature. It has excellent resistance to brackish water or seawater under high-velocity conditions. RA 400 is one of the few materials with good resistance to hydrofluoric acid. Its uses include marine components, caustic evaporators and chemical processing equipment.
