Engineering And Technology Programs For Tomorrow: Going Beyond Technical Management, Automation, And Technology
In this article, the author has attempted to present a rationale for including in our academic courses and learning experiences not now widely available. Evidence indicates a distinct need for courses which develop the following knowledge and skills in today's students: how to work in teams, respect for and appreciation of cultural and gender diversity, familiarity with international business and trading blocs, and how to effectively manage industrial projects. It is time for the leaders of engineering and technology programs across the United States, Mexico, and Canada to redefine their vision for the fields. Developing new curricula and educational processes is an integral part of this process.
