Presents a fundamental method for analysing heat exchangers using pure refrigerants and nonazeotropic refrigerant mixtures. States the method allows for calculation of heat and mass transfer between moist air and nonazeotropic refrigerant mixtures and predicts local parameters of air and mixtures. Both single and two-phase refrigerants can be analysed with this method. Presents algorithms for the use of this model, data, and calculated thermal performance for two conventional types of air-side geometries. States the algorithms for calculating the thermal performance of heat exchangers can be used for either conventional or enhanced geometries. Gives a comparison of crossflow, cross-counterflow and counterflow heat exchangers. States the algorithms are sufficient for the design and development of equipment using pure and mixed refrigerants.KEYWORDS: Heat exchangers, analysis, refrigerants, mixtures, non azeotropic, designing, calculating, comparing, algorithms, cross flow heat exchangers, counterflow heat exchangers.
