Notes trends towards thermal storage as energy supply companies struggle to meet consumer energy needs without constructing new power plants. At the same time the need for reliable water supplies for fire protection service can be expected to grow, with the requirement for sprinkler systems now imposed on most new construction. States these trends create an obvious opportunity for combined technology - the use of chilled water thermal storage for fire protection service. Addresses the issues involved in integrating these systems and uses a recently completed truck assembly plant in South Carolina to illustrate the concept. First discusses general considerations.
