As the demand for water continues to grow in southern California, the need for alternative supplies becomes increasingly necessary. This paper presents case studies for six new recycled water facilities in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties designed to produce a total average daily flow of approximately 60 mgd. These facilities will help to address future water needs in the region. The six facilities include: City of Redlands Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Facilities; City of San Bernardino Municipal Water Department Rapid Infiltration and Extraction Facility; Moreno Valley Regional Water Reclamation Facility, Eastern Municipal Water District; Temecula Valley Regional Water Reclamation Facility, Eastern Municipal Water District; Chiquita Water Reclamation Facility, Santa Margarita Water District; and, Regional Plant Number 5, Inland Empire Utilities Agency.
