IN RECENT YEARS, TEXTILE NEAR NET SHAPE PREFORMS HAVE RECEIVED INTEREST WITHIN THE AEROSPACE COMPOSITE INDUSTRY. BY APPLYING DIFFERENT TEXTILE PROCESSES AND TECHNIQUES, THE MATERIAL SUPPLIER IS ABLE TO OFFER STRUCTURALLY EFFICIENT AND COST-EFFECTIVE PREFORMS. THIS PAPER WILL REVIEW THE CONCEPTS AND TECHNICAL MERITS OF A NUMBER OF PREFORMING TECHNIQUES. IN ADDITION, THIS PAPER INCLUDES THE FEASIBILITY OF ADAPTING THESE TECHNIQUES TO A PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT.
