Type 321 is used primarily within this sensitizing (damaging) temperature range; however, its carbon combines preferentially with titanium leaving chromium in solution to maintain full corrosion resistance. Among its applications are high-temperature steam service, chemical plants and heavy-duty aircraft exhaust manifolds.
