该规格对签订用惯用螺钉的螺纹形状、尺寸、允许误差及称呼进行了规定，包括根据螺钉连接实现气密性连接的接头所使用的螺钉称呼1/16至6。这些螺钉是锥形螺母、平行螺母或锥形螺母，用于通过螺钉连接、阀门、接头或螺钉连接而相互连接的管道装置或管接头。适当的结合，最好使用能确保压力的螺钉。

이 규격은 나사 접속에 의하여 기밀성 체결이 이루어지는 이음쇠에 사용하는 나사 호칭 1/16에서 6 까지를 포함한 체결용 관용 나사의 나사 모양, 치수, 허용오차 및 호칭에 대하여 규정한다. 이러한 나사는 테이퍼 수나사, 평행 암나사 또는 테이퍼 암나사이고, 나사 결합, 밸브, 이음쇠 또는 나사 결합에 의해 서로 연결되는 배관 장치 또는 피팅에 사용한다. 알맞은 결합은 압력 죔을 확신할 수 있는 나사를 사용하는 것이 바람직하다.
