Replacing impellers in centrifugal fans can be a cost effective approach to upgrading the performance of the fan. This paper explores the process of utilizing impeller replacement to upgrade fan performance from identifying initial upgrade potential through installation and fan commissioning. The topics covered are: matching rotors to existing fan housings; meeting structural and aerodynamic performance objectives; demonstrating fanperformance prior to delivery of the upgraded components; field testing and assembly issues; demonstrating fan performance in the field.
