TO ADDRESS THE COMMERCIALIZATION CHALLENGE OF CERAMIC COMPONENTS, A SYSTEM APPROACH WAS BROUGHT TOGETHER. THIS SYTEM INTEGRATES ENGINEERING AND DESIGN EXPERTISE RELATED TO THE WORK MATERIAL; SUPERABRASIVE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND GRINDING TECHNOLOGY; STATE-OF-THE-ART MACHINE TOOLS, AND MANUFACTURING KNOW-HOW. TO MEET THESE NEEDS, A CERAMIC MACHINING TECHNOLOGY CENTER WAS ESTABLISHED WITH THE FOLLOWING MISSION: PROVIDE FINISH GRINDING OF CERAMIC PARTS USING STATE-OF-THE-ART GRINDING SYSTEMS TO ACHIEVE CYCLE TIMES AND PART QUALITY RESULTING IN PRODUCTION ECONOMY AND EARLY COMMERCIALIZATION, PROMOTE PROPER GRINDING PRACTICES, AND ACCELERATE THE SALE OF SUITABLE GRINDING SYSTEMS TO THE CERAMICS FINISHING MARKET.
