This standard describes automatically controlled, impressed-current cathodic protection systems intended to minimize corrosion of interior submerged surfaces of steel water storage tanks and 30-in. (750-mm) diameter and larger wet risers of elevated tanks.This standard does not describe sacrificial (galvanic) anode-type cathodic protection systems or manually controlled, impressed-current systems. The revisions to ANSI/AWWA D104 in this edition are editorial with the primary intent to improve clarity.
