There are some new ideas presented in AMCA Fan Application Manual, Part 3, A Guide to the Measurement of Fan-System Performance in the Field, which should be exciting to those who have to perform field measurements on fans. They will bring new meaning and assistance to the art of field measurements of fan performance. A method for determining motor power output using field measured current and voltage information is described also described is a method for estimating power losses through belt drives. There is a description of the kind of "tube" used to measure pressures in a dirty gas stream, arid an illustration of how the measuring accuracy of the duct velocity is affected by changing the degree of slope on an inclined manometer.Although there is not much that is exciting about the standard AMCA Pitotstatic tube, it, along with other "standard" items is included to make the field measurement manual a self contained instrument. This paper will review the above items plus other supportive information contained in the Manual and covered by appendixes B through S.
