THIS PAPER PROVIDES ACCURATE CALCULATIONS OF DISC SPRING STRESSES, SINCE THE NOMINAL OUTSIDE DIAMETER OF A DISC SPRING IS REPLACED BY ITS VALUE. THE ACTUAL OUTSIDE DIAMETER IS SMALLER THAN THE NOMINAL OUTSIDE DIAMETER DUE TO THE CORNER RADIUS OF THE DISC SPRING AND THE CONE ANGLE. FATIGUE LIFE OF THE DISC SPRINGS CAN BE CALCULATED, INSTEAD OF BEING ESTIMATED FROM THE DIAGRAM, WHICH HAS A LIMITED APPLICATION. THE EQUATION TO CALCULATE FATIGUE LIFE IS DEVELOPED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE NUMBER OF CYCLES AND MINIMUM/MAXIMUM TENSILE STRESSES.
