A few years ago small to medium sized supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems started using personal computers (PCs) for the SCADA system master. Software companies then appeared offering general purpose SCADA packages which could be used with a variety of different hardware products, first programmable logic controllers and later with telemetry remote terminal units (RTUs). This paper outlines the development and implementation of a medium sized PC based SCADA system using the InTouch software package.
