This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is
responsible for preparing water supply plans for its district that address demands which would
exceed available supply over the next 20 years during a 1-in-10 year
drought. Latest supply plan indicates traditional supplies will not meet
demand over next 20 years. Supply plans have identified 1.5 bgd of alternative supplies
that could be implemented by 2025. Nanofiltration is presented as baseline for
water treatment alternatives, along with the cost basis for treatment options, wastewater reuse viewed as a major
alternative supply source, higher levels of treatment needed to
satisfy more stringent regulations, scope of membrane bioreactors, and South District Water Reclamation Plant Facilities project implementation. Includes figures.
