该标准规定了决定光学表面损伤门槛值（LIDT）的试验方法，即单次短激光辐射诱导。试验程序适用于对不同激光波长和脉冲长度的所有组合。但是，在相同波长、脉冲长度及束径下，比较未测量状态下的激光损伤阈值数据有可能出现错误。该标准的适用暂定于光元件表面的不可修复损伤。备注激光造成的损伤门槛值的单位和尺度的视图显示在附件C中。警告？对损伤数据的外推法可能导致对激光辐射诱导损伤门限值计算不准确或错误的结果及过高估计。对于有毒材料（如ZnSe、GaAs、CdTe、ThF4、硫族化合物、Be、Cr、Ni），可能会造成健康上的严重危险。
이 표준은 단일 숏 레이저 방사 유도에 대한 광학표면의 손상 문턱값(LIDT)을 결정하는 시험방법에 대하여 규정한다.시험 절차는 서로 다른 레이저 파장과 펄스 길이에 대한 모든 조합에 적용 가능하다. 그러나 동일한 파장, 펄스 길이 및 빔 지름하에서 측정하지 않은 상태에서의 레이저 손상 문턱값 데이터들을 비교 하는 것에는 오류의 우려가 있다.이 표준의 적용은 잠정적으로 광소자 표면의 복구 불가능한 손상에 한정한다.비고 레이저에 의한 손상 문턱값의 단위와 척도의 보기는 부속서 C에 나와 있다.경고?손상 데이터에 대한 외삽법은 레이저 방사 유도 손상 문턱값에 대한 부정확한 또는 잘못 계산된 결과 및 과대 평가를 유도할 수 있다. 유독성 재료들의 경우(예를 들어 ZnSe, GaAs, CdTe, ThF4,chalcogenides, Be, Cr, Ni)에는 건강상의 심각한 위험을 초래할 수 있다.
