The Faculty of Business and Technology of Western Sydney offer a range of courses in Technology Management. These courses use a facility called the Production floor which is the subject of this paper. The Production Floor has hardware in the form of a range of manufacturing processes including computer-controlled batch processing, a conventional technology based liquid filling line and microbiological processing equipment that are used to simulate a manufacturing and commercial environment within a framework shaped by a commercial MRP-II software system. The paper also presents the use of such a facility in training graduates who can be Symbolic-Analysts.
