RECENTLY, BRUSHING TOOLS HAVE BEEN THE SUBJECT OF A CONSIDERABLE RESEARCH EFFORT. THIS RESEARCH HAS PRODUCED VALUABLE GUIDELINES CONCERNING THE BASIC PERFORMANCE OF BRUSHES AND PROVIDED A FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ADVANCED BRUSHING TOOLS AND PROCESSES. IN THIS PAPER, ISSUES RELATED TO THE DESIGN, SELECTION, AND MACHINING PERFORMANCE OF BRUSHES ARE EXAMINED AND DISCUSSED. ACTUAL RESULTS ARE REPORTED WHICH INDICATE SUCH TOOLS CAN YIELD BOTH CONSISTENT AND ACCURATE MACHINING PERFORMANCE WHEN USED IN DEBURRING OPERATIONS.
