The main objective of this work was to evaluate the rejection (organic and inorganic) performances of commercial spiral wound membrane elements (RO, NF and UF) for treating two sources of highly colored groundwater. Target objectives include color removal and formation potential (FP) of various disinfection byproducts (DBPs) associated with chlorination of feed and permeates. Due to the limitation of time, manpower and test equipment availability for this work, determination of possible fouling of membranes was not undertaken.
