Energy conservation with building HVAC systems continues to be of concern to ASHRAE. This paper reports the results of ASHRAE RP-471, "Development of Design Guidelines for the Proper Use of an Economizer Cycle with Heat Recovery Systems." A method is presented that will enable the design engineer to properly select among an economizer system, a heat reclaim system, or a combination of both, based either on energy or cost consideration.Units: I-P
