Research objectives for this study presented in a slide presentation were to: develop and demonstrate an effective method to
characterize potential exposure to contaminants;
evaluate system responses resulting from a
deliberate bio-chemical assault on a drinking
water distribution network; and,
perform system vulnerability assessment and
develop vulnerability plots for a network, such
that results can be easily interpreted by utilities
and designers.
Topics covered include: the vulnerability of water distribution systems to
security threats;
use of models in assessing water system
vulnerability;
recent research based on the use of Monte Carlo
techniques for simulating water demands;
development of models based on the integration
of stochastic demand simulation and water
quality transport; and, the
use of integrated models for studying effect of
system operation on consumer exposure.
