1.1 This test method covers the determination of thermal endurance of rectangular and square fibrous, film-wrapped, or film insulated magnet wire coated with an insulating varnish. 1.2 The values given in SI units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. A specific precautionary statement is given in Section 5 . Note 1: There is no similar or equivalent IEC Standard. 1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee. ====== Significance And Use ====== 4.1 Individual varnishes behave differently when applied to the same fibrous, film-wrapped, or film insulated magnet wire when exposed to elevated temperatures. Likewise, a varnish does not always behave the same when applied to different types of fibrous, film-wrapped, or film insulated magnet wires and when exposed to elevated temperatures.
