Golden Guardian 08 scenario and projected impacts by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) included: 7.8 M earthquake lasting for >90 s on southern San Andreas Fault on Nov. 13, 2009, spanning the area from the Salton Sea to Gorman with numerous >7.0 aftershocks; communications and utilities disrupted; numerous roads and bridges damaged and blocked; and, >1600 fires.
