Voids induced by liquid composite molding (LCM) process adversely affect the mechanical properties of the LCM composites. A micro-mechanics model to predict the elastic properties of voided composites has been recently developed by the author's group. In this study, a unique experimental procedure is presented to verify this analytical model. The analytical model is used to evaluate the micro void effect on the elastic properties of fiber tow reinforced composites. Finally, an FEM modeling of voided LCM composites is developed and compared with the analytical model prediction results.
