1.1Scope1.1.1This standard applies to unvented portable type gas refrigerators intended for use either indoors or outdoors with propa ne and butane gases.For the purpose of this standard, indoors refers to a confined space in tents, recreational vehicles, cottages, fishing huts, cabins and other similarly enclosed areas.1.1.2This standard applies to portable type gas refrigerators having:(a) a regulated pressure (b) a non-regulated pressure.1.1.3This standard applies to refrigerators:(a) directly connected to the container (b) remotely connected to the container.1.1.4This standard does not apply to refrigerators incorporating or designed to be used with a fuel supply of 200 g (7 ounces) or less.1.1.5Refrigerators which comply with the provisions will not necessarily be acceptable if when examined and tested are found to have other features which impair the results contemplated by these provisions.1.1.6Refrigerators and components employing materials or having forms of construction differing from those detailed in these provisions may be examined and tested according to the intent of the provisions and if found to be satisfactorily equivalent, may be given recognition.1.1.7This standard applies to refrigerators constructed entirely of new, unused parts and materials.1.1.8Refrigerators examined for compliance to this standard shal l be designed to use Group 2 refrigerants in quantities not exceeding 6 lbs (2.72 kg). Group 2 refrigerants include, but are not limited to, the following:Ammonia Dichloroethylene Ethyl chloride Methyl chloride Methyl formate Sulphur dioxide1.1.9A refrigerator examined for compliance to this standard shall be provided with a direct, self-contained type of system employ ing the absorption or adsorption principle of refrigeration.1.1.10This standard also covers all electrical equipment, wiring and accessories built-in or supplied for use with a refrigerator using gas fuel. This standard does not cover refrig erators using gas fuel which have a supply voltage rating of greater than 125 V. Refer to section 1.18.
