该标准对由环氧（环氧）、三聚氰胺、苯酚、聚酰亚胺、硅及不饱和聚酯等结合剂（binder）制成的工业用轻质积层板的相关定义和一般要求进行了规定。另外，纤维纸、棉织物、玻璃织物、玻璃粗纺、玻璃垫、涤纶织物、木板等强化剂可以单独或同时使用。该标准所遵循的材料必须满足规定水平的性能。用户为特定的应用选择材料时，应以该应用中合适性能的必要实际要求为准，不能仅以该标准为准。

이 표준은 에폭시(에폭시드), 멜라민, 페놀, 폴리이미드, 실리콘 및 불포화 폴리에스테르 등의 결합제(binder)로 만들어진 전기적 목적을 위한 산업용 경질 적층판의 관련 정의와 일반 요구사항에 대하여 규정한다. 또한 섬유지, 면직물, 유리 직물, 유리 조방, 유리 매트, 폴리에스테르 직물, 나무 판자 등의 강화제는 단독으로 또는 함께 사용될 수 있다.이 표준에서 따르는 재료는 규정한 수준의 성능을 충족해야 한다. 사용자가 특정한 응용을 위해 재료를 선택하는 경우 해당 응용에서 적합한 성능의 필요한 실제 요구사항을 기준으로 해야 하며, 이표준만을 기준으로 해서는 안 된다.
