This standard provides a common basis for evaluating the safety, durability and structuralperformance of home office and occasional-use desk, table and storage products intended foruse in commercial and home offices. It provides test methods and performance requirements forhome office and occasional-use desk, table and storage products. These products may becompletely assembled, partly assembled or totally unassembled (often known as RTA or "readyto assemble"), when they leave the control of the manufacturer. These partly assembled andRTA products are designed to be assembled by the end user. Where a product may be coveredby more than one ANSI/BIFMA standard, the manufacturer shall determine which standardprovides the most appropriate test conditions. Where a product is intended for use outside of thecommercial or home office, it is the responsibility of the user of this standard to determine if it issuitable for use in such evaluations.
