This slide presentation outlines a study with the objectives of: evaluating the potential of naturally present and added
chemicals as fluencemeters;
focusing on germicidal fluences (~ 100 - 2000 J m-2);
testing both low- and medium-pressure Hg lamps; and,
examining the effect of water quality
e.g., pH, TOC. Experimental procedures included:
low- and medium pressure Hg lamps for Fe3+
and BA/H2O2, medium pressure for NO3-;
collimated beam experiments, radiometric
fluence determination;
shallow solution depth (< 1 cm);
NO2- and Fe2+ analyzed by colorimetry; and,
Hydroxy-BA analyzed by reversed phase HPLC. Includes figures.
