It eliminates 50 to 70% of the smoke and fumes generated by self-shielded flux-cored electrodes and about 30% of the smoke from gas-shielded flux-cored electrodes. Metal-Core 6 is used to deposit typically 1.6 to 1.8% manganese steel weld metal that provides as-deposited tensile strength in the range 85,000 to 92,000 psi, depending on composition of the shielding gas.
