THE PAPER DISCUSSES THE APPLICATION OF A NEWLY DEVELOPED PROCESS USED IN THE GRINDING OF CUTTING TOOLS. THE M.S.L. (METAL SINGLE LAYER) WHEEL WAS USED AT ELEVATED SPEEDS (150 M/S) ON A SPECIALLY DESIGNED, FULLY ENCLOSED GRINDING MACHINE UTILIZING MINERAL OIL AS COOLANT. THE M.S.L. PROCESS HAS THE ABILITY TO ATTACH THE CBN PARTICLE IN SUCH A WAY AS TO INCREASE THE FREENESS OF CUT AND AT THE SAME TIME MAINTAINING OR EVEN INCREASING THE WHEEL LIFE. INFORMATION IS PRESENTED ON THE TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE AND INDICATES THE LEVEL OF METAL REMOVAL RATES THAT CAN BE REMOVED IN TERMS OF Q'W AND B'W. IN CONCLUSION, THE PAPER SHOWS THAT CLEAR ADVANTAGES CAN BE GAINED WHEN USING M.S.L. WHEELS OVER EXTANT ELECTROPLATED CBN WHEELS.
