SUPERFINISHING IS USED TO ACHIEVE MICRO- FINISHED SURFACES, SUPERIOR COSMETIC APPEARANCES, EXTENDED PRODUCT LIFE, AND LESS ENERGY LOSS FROM FRICTION. IT IS PERFORMED BY AN ABRASIVE STONE THAT OSCILLATES WHILE CONTACTING A ROTATING WORKPIECE. ONE IMPORTANT APPLICATION OF THIS PROCESS IS THE SUPERFINISHING OF THE BALL TRACKS FOR THE BEARING INDUSTRY. THE RESEARCH WAS CARRIED OUT ON A THIELENHAUS MACHINE, TYPE KM 26, IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE OPTIMUM OPERATING CONDITIONS.
