This paper presents a state-of-the art survey of shell-side condensation in refrigerant condensers. In addition to the fluorocarbon refrigerants, the survey includes steam and ammonia. Issues addressed include vapor shear and inundation, enhanced tubes, noncondensible gases, effect of oil, and tube bundle design.
