This study focuses on applying a ceramic membrane process for
medium and large-scale water purification plants. Specific areas addressed include: applicability to various
qualities of raw water; energy saving; operational stability; treatment of backwash waste;
reduction of negative impact of chemical cleaning and maintenance associated with the
treatment; and, waste problems generated by membrane replacement.
This research is focused on improving operational approaches and contributing to the
development of solutions to specific problems in the elements that make up a ceramic
membrane system for medium to large scale water purification plants. The paper discusses experimental procedures that include the experimental period and site, raw water characteristics, flow diagram of the experimental system, and the experimental results. Includes 4 references, tables, figures.
