Challenges Associated with Mixing Desalinated Seawater and Conventionally Treated Surface Waters to Minimize Customer Complaints
SA Water was faced with the dual problems of mixing desalinated seawater and conventionally treated surface water at a plant with numerous operational constraints and then chlorinating the blend, which could be between 0% and 100%, to achieve the desired chlorine residuals while minimizing customer complaints. To enable the chlorination to be effective, adequate blending of the two disparate waters was essential and presented a few unique challenges. Includes reference.
