This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Golden Guardian 2008 program of emergency earthquake response planning for California. The hypothetical scenario included:
7.8 earthquake starting at Salton Sea and
moving northwest for 200 miles along the
San Andreas Fault, ending at Lake Hughes;
intense shaking 10 miles in each direction
from center of the fault; and,
major damage to Southern California. Water and sewer issues are identified, along with elements of the CalWARN Mutual Aid program, including:
state-wide assistance for water and
wastewater agencies;
240 water/wastewater agencies are
members out of 3,000 water agencies;
38 states have mutual aid agreements; and, an operational plan is in place to help
guide agencies in an emergency.
