This research emphasizes the development of an effective technique for electrolytic in-process dressing (ELID) for high-speed grinding. The existing ELID in grinding is only effective at a surface speed of about 20 m/s. Its complete inefficiency in the speed range of 30 to 250 m/s prevents it from being used for high-speed grinding. Limitations of existing ELID technique are analyzed. An innovative electrode is designed and tested to advance ELID grinding technique and realize HELID (high-speed ELID) grinding.
