THIS PAPER DESCRIBES EXPERIMENTS IN WHICH CUPS WERE FORMED USING ALUMINUM BLANKS BY THE DEEP DRAWING PROCESS. TWO SIMILAR SETS OF TOOLS, ONE WITH A TITANIUM NITRIDE COATING AND THE OTHER WITHOUT, WERE COMPARED. IN EACH SET, PUNCHES AND DIES OF DIFFERENT EDGE RADII WERE USED IN VARIOUS COMBINATIONS. THE EFFECTS OF THESE GEOMETRICAL PARAMETERS, THE BENEFITS OF TITANIUM NITRIDE COATINGS UPON THE LIMITING DRAW RATIO, AND PUNCH FORCE REQUIRED WERE OBSERVED AND ANALYZED.
