EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH HAS BEEN CONDUCTED INTO THE EFFECT OF GRINDING PARAMETERS ON STRENGTH AND SURFACE FINISH OF GROUND HOT PRESSED SILICON NITRIDE (HPSN). WHEEL GRIT SIZE AND MACHINE PARAMETERS OF WHEEL DEPTH OF CUT AND WORKSPEED IN SURFACE GRINDING HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED. A RELATIONSHIP HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED BETWEEN THE WHEEL GRIT DEPTH OF CUT AND FLEXURAL STRENGTH OF GROUND HPSN. FROM THIS, RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MADE FOR EFFICIENT, HIGH STRENGTH GRINDING OF HPSN. THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SURFACE FINISH AND GRINDING PARAMETERS ARE EXPLORED.
