THIS PAPER DETAILS THE APPLICATION OF SEVERAL LARGE JOINTED ARM ELECTRIC ROBOTS MOUNTED ON TRANSPORTERS IN A MANUFACTURING TECHNICAL SOLUTION FOR A $20+ MILLION AUTOMATED MANUFACTURING SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM CONSISTS OF FOUR INDEPENDENTLY OPERATING CELLS CONNECTED BY AN AUTOMATED STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL SYSTEM. EQUIPMENT INCLUDES THREE TRAVERSING ROBOTS, TWO DEBURRING ROBOTS, THREE MATERIAL HANDLING ROBOTS, SEVEN CHUCKING CENTERS, POST PROCESS GAGING, SEVERAL PROCESSING STATIONS, CONVEYORS, AND SPECIAL PARTS HANDLING PALLETS. THE COMPUTER HARDWARE ARCHITECTURE CONSISTS OF A DISTRIBUTED SYSTEM OF INDUSTRIAL HARDENED CELL CONTROLLERS NETWORKED TO A SYSTEM CONTROLLER. INFORMATION IS TRANSFERRED BETWEEN THE SYSTEM'S COMPUTER TO THE AREA CONTROLLER.
