a water distribution system operation and maintenance manual contains information on all aspects of the system, from the type of pipe in the ground to the types of water quality problems that can occur. Although a consultant may be useful in directing the production of an O & M manual, the utility itself must be deeply involved. In many systems much of the information about the systems exists only in someone's memory. This paper summarizes the requirements, procedures, and contents of a typical manual Howard K. Bell, Consulting Engineers, Inc. used to produce in response to a new Kentucky regulatory requirement.
