This paper discusses finite capacity management and scheduling as methods for managing delivery, a key variable in outsourcing relationships between customers and vendors. For the outsourcing relationship to function smoothly, customers must ensure that vendors are able to handle their delivery requirements and vendors must keep their delivery performance at acceptable levels. This paper shows how finite capacity scheduling provides visibility into how the actions of both vendors and customers influence delivery. This visibility helps ensure that decisions which benefit delivery and outsourcing relationships are made.
