This 3-A Accepted Practice covers the materials, design, fabrication and installation of equipment used to produce and handle plant environmental air in processing, packaging, and storage areas.This 3-A Accepted Practice also provides guidance for the air quality to be maintained in food processing, packaging, and storage areas. These conditions are considered necessary to minimize contamination of product, product contact surfaces, and open containers.This 3-A Accepted Practice applies to HVAC systems installed in new building construction and does not apply to existing HVAC systems or minor renovation work.This 3-A Accepted Practice does not apply to warehouse areas, receiving areas, coolers and freezers.
