The approximately 8,000 water systems in the United States serving populations of 3,300 or more have completed their EPA-required Vulnerability Assessments (VA) and Emergency Response Plans (ERP). Many wastewater systems have voluntarily conducted VAs and prepared EOPs. Now what? What do water and wastewater systems still need to do to address their security and disaster preparedness needs and weaknesses? This paper presents the top things that water and wastewater systems still need for the security of their systems and preparedness for possible security and disaster incidents.
