IN THE PAST TEN YEARS, THEODOLITES HAVE ATTEMPTED TO FILL THE NEED FOR INSPECTION OF TOOLING. THIS PAPER IS A CALL FOR INDUSTRY-WIDE STANDARDIZATION. WE PRESENT SOME CONCERNS BASED ON EXPERIENCE. BY TELLING THE STORY OF OUR EFFORTS IN PROCESS DEFINITION, CONTROL, AND OPTIMIZATION, WE PROVIDE POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS TO OTHERS REGARDING PROCESS CONTROL FOR THEODOLITE MEASUREMENT.
