This article discusses the US Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA's) Drinking Water Contaminant Candidate List (DWCCL), a list of drinking water contaminants not subject to any proposed or promulgated National Primary Drinking Water Regulation. Specifically, the article discusses: how the DWCCL was developed in 1996; the future role of the DWCCL in determining which contaminants are regulated; and, the National Drinking Water Contaminant Occurrence Database (NCOD), which will store occurrence data for both regulated and unregulated contaminants.
