该标准规定了在0.5mm~6mm厚钢材的点焊部位施加前端或十字形抗拉载荷的反复抗拉载荷下，对点焊部位进行常温下疲劳试验的试片和试验程序。根据该标准的试验结果一般不能直接适用于实际点焊的机械构件或构件的疲劳行为。如果确定了适当的试验条件（如加热），该程序也可以适用于其他材料。

이 표준은 0.5 mm∼6 mm 두께 강재의 점 용접부에 전단이나 십자형 인장 하중을 부여하는 반복 인장 하중하에서의 점 용접부에 대한 상온에서의 피로 시험에 대한 시험편과 시험 절차에 대하여 규정한다. 이 표준에 따른 시험 결과는 일반적으로 실제 점 용접된 기계 부재나 구조물의 피로 거동에 직접 적용되지는 못 한다. 이 절차는 적절한 시험 조건(예: 가열)이 결정된다면 다른 재료에 대해서도 적용할 수 있다.
