Inspection can mean the difference between an effective cross connection control program and a paper tiger. Coordination and education can accomplish a large portion of the work necessary in a program; regulation makes up the rest. Each of these aspects is present in the individual activities which are included in the inspection function: assessing the system, selecting a strategy, preparing yourself, inspecting existing facilities, review plans, and inspecting new construction. These procedures, properly set up and adhered to, can simplify cross connection control program management.
